Listen To Your Pussy

Explore the wisdom within.

I have studied my own vagina and body, learning to listen deeply and created an art practice based on my acoustic explorations of the vagina! Find out more about my legit research celebrating creativity and sexuality through art and story.

My book Listen To Your Pussy - A Creative Approach to Body Empowerment & Healing Shame that has grown from my masters research is nearing completion of the first draft. Soon to go to my gorgeous editor in the UK, publisher inquiries are underway and it will be available late 2024.

To stay up to date when the book is coming out please jump on my mailing list or in the meantime you can read more about my creative adventures on my Substack blog site.

Through my own art journey, I have healed shame, learned to love my body, and made it my mission to help all vaginas feel sacred again.

Learn about the research

  • A descriptive, motivating and funny account of my journey into art, the experiences and emotional triggers that created my investigations of vulva shame. Including some back story of my toxic marriage and illness as a result that propelled me further into creative practice and self reflection.

  • How the experience of listening began and the methods of research I used as part of my creative explorations of my vagina. Including personal accounts of what it was like listening with the hydrophone inside my body, my expectations, what I heard, felt and found out as part of the process.

  • This section shows love and appreciation for other feminist artists, and the art that has led me here influencing my work. I shed light on the personal nature of female art, how it has been ignored in the history books written by white dead dudes, and why these artforms are so important now.

  • Shedding light on the subtle and pervasive ways that shame and taboo exist in our lives and are upheld from our mothers and previous generations without being questioned or contested. I reflect on my own personal experience with shame which has revealed itself through an artistic lens and how I have changed the way I think and feel about my body using creative practice.

  • I couldnโ€™t ignore my menstrual cycle when listening to my vagina! So here I give a brief history of the prejudice and current thinking about blood and the colour red which impacts cultural views on menstruation. Reevaluating blood as a life force rather than loss, and unravelling the cultural disgust reflex around our natural rhythms and non-violent representations of period blood.

  • Why my body is both a muse and a creator, and how learning about feminist art in my studies I related to many of the artistsโ€™ experiences. Prompting me to contextualise my own experiences creatively, giving me permission to express them in unique ways, challenging my own creative nature and generating novel ideas.

  • I discuss the howโ€™s of prioritising the raw and unedited body and how activism is in our everyday choices. I never considered myself an activist until I began questioning shame and taboos which still exist in society. I discuss how these experiences of questioning my own shame have informed my art which has become a statement, has led me to helping others and how everyday activism is not to be underestimated.

Listen up!

I wanted to develop another way of studying the yoni, not just from a medical or observational perspective, but from a creative one. My Masters of Creative Arts research and artwork are direct reflections of my own experience and curiosity for how we connect to our bodies.

Yoni Listening is a unique way of experiencing the female landscape โ€“ the vagina.  I have developed audio recordings, soundscapes and meditations that include sounds from within the body, specifically the vaginal canal, designed to share the experience of being a woman and the magical power of the menstrual cycle.

My โ€˜vaginal imaginationsโ€™ re-envisions culture through unity, using technology and what is known about the vagina, to bring into reality what is possible; a world where vaginas are not shamed and where to express the female experience is not considered โ€˜otherโ€™ or taboo.

All my artwork is inspired by my experience. Whether that be a partner saying that my vulva resembles the petals of a flower, my deep listening research with the hydrophone up there, or conversations with other people, each piece tells a story.
